If you're applying to a direct-admit major like the Swanson School of Engineering, the School of Nursing, or the School of Pharmacy, the admission bar is higher than the general College of Arts & Sciences. Engineering wants strong math and physics; Nursing wants strong science and a stated nursing rationale.

Submit the David C. Frederick Honors College application by its priority deadline (typically early November for top scholarship consideration). The Honors application requires additional essays and is reviewed separately from general admission.

Apply by the priority scholarship deadline (typically December 15) for the Chancellor's, Stamps, and Nordenberg Scholarships. The Nordenberg covers full tuition, fees, room and board, and a study-abroad/research stipend — application is by invitation after submitting your Pitt application early.

Pennsylvania residents in the 3.7+/1300+ band who apply by early September have very strong odds at Pitt admission, in-state tuition, and competitive merit aid.
